Recently, Unveiling Ceremony of the China Book Center in Bangladesh and "Reading China" China-Bangladesh Youth Exchange were held at the Bangladesh National Library. Du Zhanyuan, Director of CIPG, Yao Wen, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Faruki, Bangladesh Cultural Adviser, and Rahman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Bangladesh, attended the event and delivered speeches, and nearly 300 representatives from Chinese and Bangladeshi media, universities, and enterprises attended the event. The young employees of Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project of PowerChina Chengdu(hereinafter referred to as the Company) were invited to participate in the exchange and sharing session. Du Zhanyuan said that the establishment of the China Book Center will further promote people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between China and Bangladesh, provide Bangladeshi readers with a window to understand China's history, culture and social development, and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries to a new height. Yao Wen pointed out that as traditional friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic cooperative partners, China and Bangladesh have a history of civilizational exchanges dating back thousands of years. It is hoped that through the construction of the center, a high-level and high-quality cultural exchange platform between China and Bangladesh will be created, so as to help the people of China and Bangladesh deepen their understanding of each other's cultures, and jointly promote the deepening of China-Bangladesh cultural exchanges. Faruki, Bangladesh Cultural Adviser, and Rahman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Bangladesh, also spoke highly of China's achievements in the cultural, economic, and other fields, and fully affirmed Bangladesh-China friendship and cooperation. In the exchange and sharing session, Ren Ruike, the representative of young Chinese employee of PowerChina in Bangladesh, briefly introduced the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project designed and implemented by the Company. He said that during the construction of the project, many difficulties have been overcome, more than 1,000 jobs have been created for the local area, and relevant technical training has been provided, which has promoted the friendship between the people of China and Bangladesh. In addition, the story of the Chinese and Bangladeshi builders was made into a documentary "Hello Dhaka", the Chinese version of the documentary has been broadcast on CCTV-9 during the two sessions in 2024, and the Bengali version has also been completed and will be officially broadcast on major television stations in Bangladesh in 2025 during the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh and the Year of China-Bangladesh People-to-People Exchange, which will build a platform to empower economic and social development and make greater contributions to China-Bangladesh friendship. The Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project is a remarkable achievement of China-Bangladesh economic cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative, and is also the largest single sewage treatment plant in South Asia, with a daily sewage treatment capacity of 500,000 tons, which can efficiently treat urban domestic sewage of about 5 million people in the urban area of Dhaka, greatly improving the local ecological environment and the quality of life of residents, and contributing China's wisdom and strength to the sustainable development of Bangladesh. After the event, PowerChina received a letter of thanks from the Cultural Communication Center of CIPG. The letter said that Ren Ruike, a Chinese employee of PowerChina in Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project, attended the meeting and delivered a speech, vividly showing the fruitful results of the "Belt and Road" initiative in sincere and powerful language, conveying the warm practice of China-Bangladesh cooperation to benefit people's livelihood, and highlighting the important role of young people in central enterprises in deepening the friendly relations between the two countries, which was widely resonated by the audience. | ||
