Recently, after the
completion of 72 hours of trial operation of the San Gaban III Hydropower Plant
in Peru, the first unit of the power plant was successfully put into operation
for power generation. Located in Puno Province in
southeastern Peru, the San Gaban III Hydropower Plant is the most downstream
cascade hydropower plant of the San Gaban River, jointly invested and built by
Three Gorges International, China International Water & Electric Power
Corporation, and the China-LAC Cooperation Fund. With a total installed
capacity of 209,300 kilowatts and an average annual power generation of 1,252
million kilowatt hours, the project is the first hydropower project invested by
Chinese enterprise in Peru. PowerChina Chengdu obtained the first overseas
design supervision contract in this project, which is of great significance to
explore the international market by relying on the core competitiveness of
hydropower engineering survey and design. The San Gaban III Hydropower
Plant plays an important role in Peru's national energy development plan, after
the project is successfully put into operation for power generation, it can
effectively alleviate the power supply pressure in the southern region,
optimize the local energy structure, and achieve significant social and
economic benefits.
