Recently, POWERCHINA announced the list of award-winning projects for the 2023 POWERCHINA Science and Technology Award, with a total of 8 achievements won by the company.

The "Key Technology for Debris Flow Disaster Evaluation and Safety Prevention and Control of Deep River Valley Hydropower Projects" project led by the company has won the first prize of the Group's Science and Technology Progress Award. The company's participation in the "Research and Application of Integrated Digital Technology for Hydropower Engineering Design and Construction" and the "Key Construction Technology for Extra High Earth-rock Dams in Cold Plateau Regions" have won the Group's Special Prize for Science and Technology Progress. Five achievements, including "Planning and Research on Water Light Complementary Clean Energy Base in the Upper Reaches of the Jinsha River and the Tibetan River" and "Key Technologies for Green Restoration and Safe Utilization of Heavy Metal Polluted Farmland", were awarded second and third prizes respectively.

The research project of "Key Technologies for Debris Flow Disaster Assessment and Safety Prevention and Control of Hydropower Projects in the Deep Valley" aims at the difficult problems of debris flow disaster prevention and control of hydropower projects in the deep valley. Relying on more than 50 hydropower projects in Sichuan, Xizang and other provinces and regions, through long-term systematic research, a technical system for debris flow disaster prevention and control of hydropower projects has been established and major technical problems of debris flow prevention and control have been solved. It fills the gap in the research on debris flow disaster systems in the field of hydropower engineering. Through practical testing in numerous hydropower projects such as Shuangjiangkou and Changheba, this technology has achieved significant results in debris flow prevention and disaster reduction in hydropower projects and energy system disaster reduction, reaching an overall international leading level.

It is reported that a total of 136 awards were awarded for the 2023 Science and Technology Award of the joint-stock company, including 5 special prizes, 28 first prizes, 45 second prizes, and 58 third prizes.
