On August 20th, officially started the Rucalhue Hydropower Plant, marking that the project has entered the stage of full construction.
Located on the Biobio River in south central Chile, the Rucalhue HPP is a run-of-river hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 90 MW. It is equipped with three bulb turbines, and its main development purpose is power generation, with an average annual energy of 441 GWh. The main buildings include the concrete dam section on the left bank, the spillway gate and the riverbed power house on the right bank.
PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited(hereinafter referred to as the Company)has participated in the project since May 2017, as the design contractor of the project, the Company has cooperated with the proprietor to complete the project evaluation, pre-feasibility study, equity delivery, feasibility study and bidding work. The Company has encountered many challenges in the process of contract execution due to the high technical standards of Chile, the developed country with sound laws and regulations, especially in terms of environmental protection and construction permits. As the company's first integrated hydropower project implemented in South America, the execution of the project is conducive to learning advanced management experience in the high-end market.
